Editorial Independence

Editorial Disclaimer

Transparency, ground-research ethics, and our zero-commission pledge for pilgrims and readers of Blog Varanasi.

Our Resident Writer Pledge:

We do not accept money from boatmen, silk shops, temple touts, or hotels to write fake praise. When we recommend a morning kachori stall or warn about an imitation Banarasi saree trap, it is based on ground reality in Varanasi.

1. Independent Editorial Philosophy

Blog Varanasi is an independent travel, pilgrimage, and cultural documentation project. Our content is created by writers and locals who live in Varanasi. Our primary loyalty is always to the visiting traveler and pilgrim.

2. Pricing, Fares & Timings Variance

Throughout our itineraries, we provide realistic rate estimates (such as sunrise hand-rowed boat charges of โ‚น400-โ‚น800/hour, auto-rickshaw fares from Cantt Station to Godowlia, and temple VIP darshan ticketing fees). Please note:

  • Festive Surges: During major occasions like Dev Deepawali, Maha Shivratri, Kartik Purnima, and Shravan month, local demand surges significantly and prices can fluctuate above standard off-season rates.
  • Ganga Aarti Schedules: Evening Aarti timings shift by 15-30 minutes between summer (around 7:00 PM) and winter (around 6:00 PM) to align with sunset. Always verify timing on the day of arrival.
  • Corridor Protocols: Mobile phones, electronic keys, leather belts, and cigarettes are strictly prohibited inside Kashi Vishwanath Dham. Use official lockers provided near the entry gates.

3. Cultural & Religious Sensitivity

Varanasi is one of the world's oldest continuously inhabited sacred cities. At cremation ghats like Manikarnika and Harishchandra, photography of burning pyres is strictly prohibited by tradition. We urge all visitors to maintain utmost dignity, dress modestly when visiting sanctums, and respect ongoing rituals.

4. Advertising Disclosure

To fund website hosting, research expenses, and maintenance, we may display display advertising via Google AdSense. Advertisements are clearly distinguished by ad tags. The presence of an advertisement does not constitute an endorsement by Blog Varanasi of the advertised product or service.

5. Found an Outdated Detail? Tell Us!

Cities evolve, and lane renovations occur. If you notice a shop has relocated, a fare has changed, or a temple gate protocol has been updated, please notify us immediately through our contact form selecting 'Correction'. We verify and update within 24 to 48 hours.
