The Varanasi Ropeway will take you from Varanasi Cantt Railway Station to Godowlia via a number of points. The five stations are Cantt, Vidyapeeth, Rath Yatra, Girjaghar and Godowlia.
A Faster Way to Travel
A benefit of the Varanasi ropeway is that it will reduce travel time. The journey from Cantt to Godowlia will take 16 minutes rather than over 45 minutes on the road (when traffic is at its worst).
The Varanasi Ropeway will use cable car cabins which will carry up to 10 passengers at a time. It's going to be a big help in terms of easing road traffic and making travel in the city a lot more convenient.
What About Ticket Prices?
The cost of using the Varanasi ropeway is going to be about ₹10 per station. A complete trip from Cantt to Godowlia is going to be around ₹50.

When will the ropeway start?
By 3rd November 2026 the Varanasi Ropeway will be in the trial run phase. The public should be able to use it at the end of November if the trials are successful and the requisite approvals are granted.
